Bill Stafford - President

Living and working in Victoria most of his life, Bill Stafford graduated from Camosun College in 1982, receiving his Business Administration Diploma, specializing in accounting.

His previous experience includes working for a group of public companies on the Vancouver Stock Exchange (now the TSX Venture). In 1991, he created and founded Lionheart Tax Services, growing the company from one to five locations over the years managing 7,000 personal tax clients and 25 staff. In December 2009, Bill successfully completed the sale of Lionheart to H&R Block.

Today, Bill operates Cheques & Balances Bookkeeping Ltd. with six staff whose primary focus is bookkeeping and corporate accounting.

Lorraine Crinkley - Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Lorraine has worked for Cheques and Balances Bookkeeping since September 2010. She is Office Manager, assistant to Bill Stafford, and a bookkeeper. She has years of experience in Administration and has completed training in Simply Accounting through Camosun College. Her favorite part of the job is that there is always something new to learn. In her free time, Lorraine enjoys playing guitar, rowing for Camosun College, and spending time with her cat, Gerrald. She also volunteers at the Beacon Hill Petting Zoo and other non-profit organizations in Victoria aiding in the care and rescue of animals.

Nancy Baerg - Bookkeeper

Nancy came to work for the company as a Bookkeeper in early 2006. In 2009, when Lionheart was sold and Cheques & Balances was formed, she opted to help build the new company. BC born and raised, Nancy settled in Victoria in 1991 after spending 10 years in Alberta. When not working she spends most of her free time with her family. She has 3 grown children, 1 of which is married with 2 children.

Ceilidh Myers - Bookkeeper/Accountant

Ceilidh grew up & went to school in Victoria BC. She studied accounting at Camosun College, earning her diploma in 2008, and she will be completing her bachelor of business administration degree in accounting in December 2011. Ceilidh lives in the Westshore with her husband. When she is not working, Ceilidh enjoys knitting, cooking and yoga. Ceilidh began working for the company as a co-op student for the 2007 tax season, returning full time in July 2009.

Sunglow Tan - Bookkeeper/Accountant

Sunglow has been working for the company since June 2008 after she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Victoria. Sunglow is currently enrolled in the CGA program of professional accounting studies. She handles client’s corporate year ends and monthly accounting.

Sunglow enjoys reading, shopping, watching moves in her free time.

Kaiwen Yu - Bookkeeper/Accountant

Kai has lived in Victoria for 8 years. What he loves most about Victoria are the friendly people and the beautiful sights of summer.  He recently graduated from Camosun College’s Bachelor of Business Administration program (Accounting Major).  He is also enrolled in the CGA program for continuing education. 

Outside of work, Kai enjoys all kinds of sports and activities such as, badminton, hiking, cycling, travelling, and playing video games, ect.

Marisa Cafik - Bookkeeper

Marisa came to work for Bill as a bookkeeper in early 2012. She is currently in the Business Administration program at Camosun College and will graduate in June of 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in accounting. After graduation, Marisa plans on pursuing either a CA or CGA professional accounting designation. In her spare time, Marisa enjoys reading, running, cycling, and hiking. She completed the West Coast Trail in 2009 and hopes to hike it again within the next few years.

Steven Chalmers - Social Media & Marketing Business Developer

Set to receive his Bachelor of Commerce this Spring, Steven was hired from the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business in early August as a Social Media / Marketing Business Developer. Before beginning work with Cheques and Balances, Steven took part in an exchange program, described as “one of the best decisions of [his] life,” that saw him studying economics in Krakow, Poland, for the larger part of a year. Steven is happy to be back on The Island though, having decided that you simply can’t beat the natural beauty of BC. No one knows what Steven’s future holds (This includes Steven himself!), but he is looking forward to an exciting educational experience with Cheques and Balances and hopes for more opportunities to travel down the road.
